Konark is renowned for the Sun Temple, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The small township of Konark is situated some 65 kms from Bhubaneswar, the state capital of Orissa. Puri lies 35 kms south-west of Konark. Konark is easily reachable either by bus or car. Accomodation is readily available.
Konark is the venue of an annual Dance Festival held in the beginning of December. Various classical Indian temple dance format (Odissi, Bharatnatyam and Kathak) are performed in an oval shaped amphitheatre, with the Sun Temple wonderfully illuminated in the background.
The Chandrabhaga beach is a couple of kilometers from Konark. Local handicraft and green coconut to quench thirst is available. A variety of fresh seafish can also be purchased here.
